Dear Carrie -- I really love your book. What resonated for me is the idea of growing up. It seems funny, but I was mad at you for Jedi for a long time. I was a little girl when Star Wars came out, it was my favorite movie, and I felt betrayed by the whole slave sequence. And then I read your book and I realized that we're all human, that growing up means letting go of the idea that your hero owes you anything, that anybody owes you anything. And then you accept your hero's humanity -- and your own -- and you find something much more complex and meaningfull in what's really there. You realize the ways you've both had to navigate the real world, and you're less hard on everybody at the end.

Plus the freaking vibrator in the Christmas stocking line was precious. "Still a little room for a small item in the toe."

Anyway, I want to write all that stuff above, only funny. I have a blog with a couple of thousand readers, mostly Generation X mothers. I'd love to e-mail you questions and have you e-mail them back, and would do a giveaway of your book, too.

I resist the lure of blogging because I know that I'd never keep up with it. But if I were to blog I think I'd name my blog "I Hate You" (not you, personally, but, you know, like, the whole world) and everyday write about something near and dear to my heart that I know would offend people, like how people who drive boom cars should be killed, until I''ve driven away all traffic from my site. At wich point I could retire, proud to have accomplished something. I'll never be able to get people to like me so I may as well make them hate me.

Dear Carrie,
I have always enjoyed you and continue to do so. In a way you can say that we grew up together (and in many ways I am still growing up, but I do have my adult moment as well) For what its worth, I am a 48 year old single guy. I have been divorced for over 15 years. I have one duaghter who is a second grade school teacher. I currently live in San Diego (been here FT for 2 years) but planning on going to Connecticut to see my daughyter and work for the next few years. Hopeing to catch your show, in fact if you are still on I will make a point of it. I would love to meet you.
I apologise for the public forum here but I have no idea how to get in touch with you and your website seemed like it might work.
Hope to hear from you

Carrie, I just saw you on Shrink Wrap this afternoon - down here in Oz. Complex and fascinating - I think the show needed at least a couple of more hours to do you justice!

Anyway, regarding your weight blog. Forget the pills, vitamins and eating less nonsense. Just limit yourself to around 2000kCal a day and you will waste away in no time.

Your broadway show, Wishful Drinking, was absolutely awesome. My friend and I saw you on Jan 9. You actually chose her from the audience.. she was the "happiest person in the place, who kept staring at her lap" and wouldn't look at you when you wanted her to come to the stage. She was glad I pushed her out of her seat. We are both mothers of autistic daughters and in so many ways could relate to your stories. Always good to be reminded that life should have a funny slant. Thank you for helping us put some more laughter into our somewhat bizzare lives. If you want to write a new book, we have plenty of fodder :)
