My daughter wants me to write a story about an impoverished mulatto from the south. Something I know little to nothing about. Something that uses my imagination. She says I write about myself too much. “You’re not going to write ANOTHER book about yourself, are you?!” I tried to convince her that I was using David Sedaris as a role model. “You know, baby…..little autobiographical vignettes. Not like a regular autobiography——-stories from different points in my life. Hopefully funny stories, you know?
